I am talking about the marketing position. I once heard somebody(who applied the marketing position) had spanned four months for the up to seven times interview at microsoft, including one that required him to live at microsoft's hotel for 4 days.is that true ,and does it applies equally to every vacancy's recruiting?

Bigger companies usually do have longer interviewing process. The minimum amount of interviews for a serious position/job/career would be three. Also, you may not hear from the company for a while, just because they do such a serious process to eliminate applicants.
