yes. I almost got struck by lightening once. It means to be too close to a situation that could get you hurt or caught in the middle of something you really don't want to be involved in.

just an expression, which means you got too close too anything, example, you just miss getting hit by a car and say that was too close for comfort, which means it almost happened.

But on the other hand... LOL yeah to the idiots on the bus that can't bother to shower or use deodorant. It's just rude for them to subject everyone to their stench. YUCK!!
