He's a Liberal, he's just poking fun at Bill O'Reilly and other ultra conservatives on TV with his show as his weapon.

Stephen Colbert gave George Bush the lowest point in Bush's Presidency. Here was a stand-up comedian paraphrasing Bush and coming right up to the quick of it, while the President looked on as if he were about to explode.
Is Colbert a Democrat or a Republican? That is kind of asking if George Washington was a Royalist. I don't see how President Washington was much of a lover of King George or the English so he must have been a rebel.
Like wise, George Bush has never thought of himself as a Democrat because President Bush and Carl Rove are in the main stream of the Republican Party. Do you remember the Willie Horton adds and the Swift Boat crew of thief's. Will this is the signature play by a bunch of Connecticut conservatives who promise nothing but to delivery power to the powerful and money to the wealthy. It is such a master stroke to get fundamentalist Christians and dedicated special force military types under the same roof with equal and efficient killer instincts.

The Stephen Colbert, TV personality, is a very strict Republican.

Stephen Colbert, the man, has never technically came out and said if he is a Republican or a Democrat, but has made it pretty obvious that he is not a Republican and is probably a pretty liberal Democrat.

Liberal, pretending to be ultra-conservative, it's quite obvious if you watch the show... Especially during the Word, he'll say something conservative, the words we'll make fun of it... And sometimes he says stuff that are just flat out liberal... One of them being my favorite Colbert Quote of all time, when talking about Bush's vacation time, he said "Bush is like a black and decker vaccum, if you don't recharge his batteries, he can't suck."

He is neither. He and Jon Stewart make fun of everyone in office. It just so happens that Republicans are controlling the government at this time. Political affilliation has nothing to do with it.
