My Question:
What is your opinion about the only former KKK member in the senate, (D) Robert Byrd - WV Senator?

NYJets45's answer
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all KKK members ultra-conservatives, yeah, then shut up.
And Robert Byrd was not in the KKK so STFU.

"I am a former kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County and the adjoining counties of the state .... The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia .... It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state of the Union. Will you please inform me as to the possibilities of rebuilding the Klan in the Realm of W. Va .... I hope that you will find it convenient to answer my letter in regards to future possibilities." — Robert Byrd in letter to Klan Imperial Wizard Samuel Green of Atlanta, April 8, 1946.

NYJets, liberals and even you are racist by nature. You and your ilk can't go one day without starting some racial hatred.

Democrats were the ones who loved slavery.

How he missed that little fact is beyond me. It's been out there for so long. I'm truly speechless...for now at least.
Note this time and date down... speechlessness don't happen often for me.
BTW: keep up the great work of spreading the truth!

Oh yeah...the avatar is so small, I can't quite make it out. I think it says "come closer, Kofi Annan" but can't tell who is in the pic or what the black thing is in the corner. I guess my vision is going in my old age! Is it Kerry in a HAZMAT suit??

Fine whatever, I apologize. your right for once but guess what how many KKK members are there total, since it's inception... 10000, maybe more, even you can't say that the majority were not conservatives...
Plus was it really worth the 5 points just to prove me wrong?
PART OF THE DEFINITION OF LIBERAL IS FREE OF BIGOTRY! Now your just trying to be a dick and you know it...I agreed you were right get over it...
And Since 1946, Byrd has on several occasions publicly admitted that he is sorry he was in the KKK. "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan."
Byrd went on the radio to acknowledge that he belonged to the Klan from 'mid-1942 to early 1943,' according to newspaper accounts. He explained that he had joined 'because it offered excitement and because it was strongly opposed to communism.' "
Byrd has also referred to his membership as a mistake of his youth.

Excuse me, but I remember a guy by the name of David Duke who ran on the Republican ticket and was a member of the KKK. Remember that history? KKK is an affiliation. It can run on both party lines like stupidity - as you have just proven by calling someone out on Yahoo! Answers....

The Democrats of 1866 are pretty much the Republicans of 2006. Everyone knows of the ultra-conservative, bigoted, right-wing Christian Fundamentalists Republican agenda.

People that take history and distort it for their own sick perverse argument end up being bigger and better ignoramuses.

Good luck with that, hillbilly! Hee-haw! Why are conservatives so blind?
