Your right, rich people do drugs also, but I do not pay for their drugs like I do people on welfare!

To Christina G... If people are on welfare they have no business getting drugs! If they truly do need the help then YES I do feel for them! But when people who get government checks go out and buy drugs with that insead of things their kids need, I have a serious problem with that.. and what brought this question about was a local drug bust. The parents were on welfare and recieving food stamps yet they had no food in the house. The kids had nothing. The parents were selling their food benefits and useing their welfare checks for drugs.. Now that being said yes I know there are people on there who do use it as it is meant to be used! Far too many do not though!

Guess what? I think everybody with a baby needs to be tested. Not only people on welfare use drugs. Even the richest people use.

first of all what would be the point of this?
second of all do you really think that people want to be on welfare?
finally, what is all this judgment about, what good is it doing you your day will come!
Additional details..OK people where are you getting you facts?/stories? you dint collect welfare from social security, and of course families are going to get more than one social security card because everyone born in the USA gets a social security card! in addition to that, yes i believe survival of the systems can be a learned behavior and I agree living on the system is not good. But how many other options do you think persons receiving assistance have? Minimum wage can not support families. Someone also suggested stop having kids, OK and who is going to pay for the welfare, b/c single moms unless pregnant do not qualify for health coverage..and if you are receiving welfar you then move into the sliding scale at the healt agencies...cheapest birth control in my state 12 dollars a month, do you know how many pound of ground round that could buy?
mom of 4- my biggest pet peave is making a rule for all when it only applies to few, maybe a mass of few in your state but never the less. Do you really believe that scrutinizing someone who is already brought to their knees is necassary? why not beef up the social services, have more workers in the feild assiting people rather than stipulating applications and hunting down lost cards. That case clearly went arye before that point! Where are the community members at stating concerns, I am sure that someone knew something befoore the drug bust, the question should be why are the authorities moving the children out before, then they knew they were there!
ps there is no such thing as a check anymore...your dating yourself sister...they actully come on a card that is used much like a debit card:)

I know of several people on welfare that are 3-4 generations, they either don't know any other way or could care less to work .
In fact I know of two families that have more than one social security cards and collect on them. one actually worked at the welfare office.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

I would PAY to get them drug tested so my taxes can go back to paying for all their illegitimate kids and Play Stations.

UNLESS - we could cut off their welfare if they test positive! Then it would be a REALLY GREAT IDEA!

I see where you aee coming from. It woldn't be condusive to drug test everyone, because not everyone on welfare is doing drugs. It really aggrivates me to see able bodied people ap;lying for a service that they really don't need, and taking it away from the ones that really do need it.

Well, in some cities, drug addicts are actually considered to have a disability and can get a lot of help! Financial and otherwise!

I know!! Why don't you just subject everyone to random drug testing!! There could be a whole bunch of special police whose job it is to go around and select random people at will and test them.
