The doctor said my 6 month old should eat around 32 ounces of formula a day, but most days she only had around 24-28 oz. and it's been that way for the past month. Is this normal? She just farts around so much halfway through her bottle it is hard to get her to eat more than 6 oz in a setting! Did you have problems with this? In the middle of her bottle she just wants to play and "talk" to me(don't get me wrong, it's cute and I love it when she does it, but i don't know if i should be concerned..) Should I try smaller, more frequent feedings? She is in good ranges for her height and weight...

Just like adults, babies' metabolisms differ individually. The guidelines are there because there are some people who WAY overfeed their babies or WAY underfeed their babies. If your child is within range for her height and weight, developing normally, and not having any health problems (like anemia or frequent infections or diarrhea), then try not to worry and stress about it. She's most likely just fine. :)

Well, the average for a baby this age is 36 oz.
That doesn't mean thats what the baby is satisfied with.
Nothing is wrong with your baby not wanting to eat the reccomended average of 36 oz.

She may just have a smaller appetite.
People are like that too, if we all went by the reccomended national average for weight, we would have a bunch of anorexics
running around.

If she only wants 6, give her 6, don't force her to eat if she isn't hungry.
It may all change too, one day, she may become ravenous and eat it all and want more.

As long as she is healthy and gaining weight and growing, I wouldn't sweat it.

I think you shouldn't worry...if she is healthy everything is allright!...Kids know how much food they need...better than doctors. If you make her eat even if she doesn't want to...you will teach her that eating when you are not hungry is good...which may give her trouble when she gets older. Many people is obese because of that...they haven't been taught to "listen" to their bodies so they eat even if they don't have to.

Wait till she hits a Growing spirt, then she'll be eating everything in sight, and you'll think something wrong then too. LOL
Sounds like she's fine.
Let her eat till she's done, when she wants more, you'll know it.
