there is a difference between pain as in falling down and getting hurt and pain that is sensual and sexual in pleasurable ways. For instance most women have been swatted on the behind at least once (probably more) and it turned them on for whatever their reason ... that was painful but not major pain and they gained pleasure from it ... either psychologically or physically or both. Some people just take it a step farther. And go further with the pain because their bodies or psyches can take more then some others. It does not make them "troubled" or mean they have a abusive past. Although yes some do. But not all. It's what brings some people pleasure - mentally, physically and sexually. It's not unusual it's just not common. But it's probably more common then you might think. Cause in my personal beliefs i think that most women (and some men for that matter) enjoy a good swat on the butt, or a quick tug of the hair etc etc etc. Lots of variations. And people shouldn't knock it til they try it - or admit that they have tried it in the past instead of being ashamed of something that is not shameful at all.

People who enjoys pain often enough has sadistic tendencies. Not necessary they would do to others but usually for self pleasure. The pleasure of having many piercing to some find sexy and erotic. Most rough sex that we do - the biting, the sucking, the spanking constitute as pleasure pain or more of a control pain. Then there's those who like sadistic pain. Masochistic pleasure. Its something about the mystery of pain. You should try it.

depending on why the cause the pain
if that person is inflicting pain on himself/herself because of they are feeling other pain (i.e psychological pain like family problems or self-discriminating problem) they feel that when they injure themselves, the physical pain will counter the psychologial pain and makes it go away. they will then realize that the problem will not go away just like that..but,just for the sake of relieving the psychological pain they will keep on injuring themselves.

of course there are also some people who think pain as a way to show their willpower or their resistance towards pain. they feel that everytime they feel pain, they are powerful. these kind pf people usually lack self-confidence in other parts (i.e they may have low self esteem towards their appearance or intelligence) so the only way for them to feel powerful is when they are able to withstand pain

another type of people who enjoy pain is the one that do it purely for the adrenaline rush of doing something that others might fear. adrenaline is a hormone in your body that will make your heart pump faster and thus supplying more oxygen throughout your body. adrenaline is usually secreted by your body when you are in fear or anxious. these people who thinks pain is ecstacy, actually do it for the sake of the adrenaline rush. its kind of the same feeling you get when you ride a roller coaster. these kind of people simply have nothing else to do or are not in their best state of mind to think that they are just wasting time.

last but not least, pain is pleasure and pleasure is pain
think about it!

Otherwise they are good people. I think they should all be working on the stock market...it is so volitile I think that would keep them happy.

Damned if I know why.

because pain is better when it's physical pain than when it's mental pain....mental/psychological pain hurts a lot more than physical pain......that's why many people who have hurt themselves physically....are suffering mentally....and want to feel bad physically so they don't feel so bad mentally....that's why people cut themselves....

i've never cut myself but i've put my hands through windows because i've felt so bad on the inside....i've experienced true sadness and depression first hand....it is unusual....i also like to box so smashing books against my head as hard as i can isn't unusual...but the pain on the outside is better than the pain on the inside
