this could also include adult video stores or adult "video arcades" where you put your dollar in to see a specified amount of porn. There is an ordinance up for vote in my town as to whether or not these businesses should effectively be allowed to stay in business. It won't put them out of business right away but the restrictions are so restrictive put on these businesses would almost certainly make the businesses go out of business.

No strip clubs don't increase crime rate in an area. The problem is Strip clubs are zoned in areas that already have a high crime rate. I heard on the news yesterday (it was about tampa's re zoning for adult industry) a bible push say she went into home depot and found used condom so she blamed it on a strip club a half mile away. First of all if a stripper was WORKing she wouldn't be in no home depot. and probably not in the that area at all. Every person out their need some type of physical release, man or women. If their isn't a safe way a person will resort to unsafe way or use denial and that will effect a person mentally.

Well, you must realize that a lot of people are afraid of their neighborhood changing, or their children being exposed to something that perhaps frightens them.

I also believe people who bring these zoning issues are very wealthy, and don't won't their own livelihood affected.

If the neighborhood is away from school districts and will not be a traffic problem (for example, usually lots of alcohol goes along with a strip club), then who cares - live and let live. A way will always be found to enjoy whatever it is people want to enjoy. Why not let your district enjoy the rewards of the tax revenue?

That could be like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg. They could be a lure to bring an "unsavory element" to the neighborhood, but then again they could be in business where they are because the criminals and the demand is already there.

I'm guessing it's a little bit of both.
