This is a great question. John Lennon was so tired of everyone trying to find meaning in the songs which he wrote. He deliberately wrote "I am the Walrus" to be about nothing...basically nonsense to drive the listening public crazy trying to figure out the "hidden" meaning. There was no way to equate any of the lyrics with anything that made sense; such as "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" equaled LSD... Quite an intriguing sense of humor, I would say. Have a good night!

Semolina Pilchard originated from the Beatles song "I Am The Walrus". Many people have tried to find the true meaning behind this name, but it is actually quite simple. Semolina is a type of pudding that John Lennon was forced to eat as a child, and Pilchard is a type of sardine that was usually fed to cats.

semolina is like the basis to pasta, pasta comes from italy so an italian slimey fish trying to get to the top of france......guess only!
and a walrus is a carnivorous sea lion........so maybe lennon seen Paul as a tough man of the sea (the walrus was paul)..............hey its fits with the Octopuses garden/ yellow submarine theme.....
dont try to analize the lyrics of a band that was so big and powerful and changed the way we hear and view music today.......there points were applicable to the times, some are more applicable today, but in all enjoy it dont look to deep for meaning

Semolina is a pudding John ate as a child, and Pilchard is the type of sardines he fed his cat. It's just a bit of some nonsense imagery John gave us to try to figure out.
