I'm not being racist. It's a true observation from my neighborhood.

In response to King Midas, do you have to be in a "black" neighborhood to buy crack? I think you are the one labeling with the stereotypes. And, just because I qualified the question with "black children" you assume I'm white?

Both races of children do it, because none of their parents have ever taken the time to teach them and enforce bicycle safety. Of those children doing that, how many wear bike helmets? It all goes back to the parents. The kids you see today not obeying any laws or common sense concerning biking are the same ones you'll see in years to come that have no concern over the laws and commonsense governing cars.

why are white people racist and stupid. Not all black children ride their bikes down the middle of the street. If you weren't in a black neighborhood looking for crack you would have known this.

They do it in my neighborhood, and as young as 5 years old. We have sidewalks, there is no need for it, and it's dangerous, especially when they're riding 10 at a time taking up the whole street, or you get the one idiot just weaving in and out of traffic. Sorry I can't answer *why* they do it, to me it just seems like a lack of respect and improper (or no) upbringing.

they do it in my neighborhood which is more black than white..its because they are not told to get out of the street (not parented) when they are young..they are allowed to play in the middle of the road! then when they get older, they dare you to hit them. i always go extra slow and make sure i drive as far away from them as possible but someone else may come along and hit them one day....
p.s. it is not like there aren't safe places to play here because there are, and everyone has a big yard.

Children with poor supervision play in the street more often than children that are properly supervised. It has more to do with parenting skills, not race.

When kids are playing, they don't watch what is going on around them and sometimes ride where it's not safe. They become so engrossed in playing that they fail to realize that what they are doing could get them killed.

the same reason they cut in front of you in line-ups, leave their cars in the middle of plaza idling so you can't get by... the list goes on... there's an answer, but this is as far as it goes.
