First of all, I've heard the theory proposed that IQ doesn't equal intelligence; it's your "intelligence quotient." A person's IQ score measures their potential. Think of IQ and intelligence like a measuring cup filled with water. The IQ score would be how much water the cup could actually hold, and the person's actual "intelligence" would be how much water is actually in the cup.

To answer your question, we must revisit our Punnett (sp?) squares from Genetics 101. I don't have time (or inclination) to do the research, but it would depend on whether or not "intelligence" is a dominant or recessive trait. If it's dominant, then both parents must have double-recessive "stupid" genes, meaning the kid would be out of luck. If it's recessive, however, the kid would have a 25-75% chance of being "smart," depending on the genetic makeup of the parents. My personal opinion is that intelligence isn't determined by genetics, but by environment.

Feel free to comment or correct me as needed.

Stupid does not equal low IQ. Some of the highest IQ people I know are stupid.

IQ is not necessarily genetic. So low IQ parents can have high IQ kids.

Being stupid is also not genetic. But if both parents are stupid, being that the child is being brought up in that environment, chances are the child will be stupid as well.

No that is not true, basically a person IQ can be determine thru the childs upbringing and how much he/she could be able to adapt/cope up with. Exposure of varieties of brain storming interesting ideas to these young ones could really assist in improving their ways of thinking.

being stupid is not based on IQ's only............ even though some genes are similar, no chid can be considered stupid.
( in an exam , a stupid chid asks a question that even the wise can't answer.)
