By pulp, do you mean sword & sorcery type stories?

I'd recommend the following:

Probably the best "pulp" style fantasy is Michael Moorcock's Elric series, and I'd highly recommend the Runestaff/Hawkmoon and Castle Brass series too. Great cosmology, and really fantastic in the literal sense of the word.

Fritz Leiber's Fafrd & The Grey Mouser series is an absolute classic of the sword & sorcery type adventure stories.

Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea trilogy (stop at book three, or at least skip the horrifyingly crappy "Tehanu.")

Susan Cooper's Time Master Trilogy (currently out of print) is a sleeper. If you can find it, you should enjoy it. Also her Indigo series isn't so bad either, though it goes on a little long (8 books of similar theme.)

David Eddings Belgariad is more of a standard epic fantasy series. Good, if a little dry. Like others, it's all downhill after this first series.

Weis & Hickman, Dragonlance Chronicles (the first trilogy. It's all downhill after that, though the sequel "Legends" trilogy isn't so bad.)

Terry Brooks Shannara books are decent, if a little slapped together (IMO.) Still, decent fantasy and a good read.

Hope this helps.

Roland Green, Dennis McKiernan, Jules Verne, H.Rider Haggard, H.Beam Piper, H.G. Wells.
Haggards books were written in the 30's and 40's. Pipers' books were written in the late 40's and 50's and 60's. Both of these authors wrote fantastic fantasy/sci-fi.
