I'll go a little off the beaten track here, and vote for the scene in "Saving Private Ryan" where the German guy kills the American soldier with the bayonet. Remember that one? The guy is on top of the American with his hand over the guy's mouth, and he just SLOOOOWLY slides the blade in under the dude's ribs until he hit something vital, and the guy died. The look on the American soldier's face -- KNOWING that he was in the process of being killed, and there was nothing he could do about it -- was excruciating. I could barely bring myself to watch it.

the one scene that stays in my head is when leather face in texas chainsaw massacre (original) hits some guy over the head with a mallet or hammer but it was gruesome. looked so realistic
