I used to use "104+" octane booster in my pick up. It would really haul when I added one of the small cans to a fill up. Unfortunately it also meant that I got poor mileage and had to replace the plugs about every six months. I stopped using it after about a year and a half or so, since it was expensive and didn't do much except empty my wallet as fast as it made my truck go. I didn't gain as much from the octane booster as I did from putting on a larger exhaust and freer breathing air intake/filter setup.

Most octane boost products do not do anything significant compared to actually buying higher octane gas. If you read the label you will find that every bottle only gives 1/10th of an octane point per bottle. If you figure that the average bottle of octane boost costs about $8, that will more than make up for the few cents higher per gallon at the pump.

Octane Boost isn't needed unless your engine is knocking. Very few cars nowadays require higher octane - the Cadillac Northstar engine is one big exception. It knocks like a bugger on 87.
