I'm going to be a senior in high school in 2 weeks I've had 3 years(so far) of French, 1 of German, 1/2 of Russian, and I've learned some Japanese on my own. I'm thinking of taking a year off and becoming an Au Pair, in Europe, but I don't know. Should I apply to college now? Which ones? What major should I take? Any additional info would be great! Thanks! P.S. I live in Ann Arbor, and a college close (within 2 hours) would be great!

Strictly speaking, there are no longer any "standards" different than a god understanding of two or greater languages. There are colleges (universities) that grant ranges in reading and translating, and a few expert institutions grant certification. concerning reading, you need to in all probability take some classes in it, because of the fact that is in all probability greater complicated than you think of. there is simultaneous reading, consecutive, convention-form, etc. maximum translators have factors of specialization - felony, technologies, engineering, etc., yet after all attempt to be nicely knowledgeable and nicely examine. maximum translators and interpreters get paintings as freelancers by way of translation companies, and additionally you will of direction be required to show which you have some experience, regardless of the reality that some could be prepared to furnish you a translation attempt, and then start up offering you with paintings in case you bypass that.
