Well my freshman year was jack total sh*t. I'm going to be a junior in a few weeks. Some advice, many juniors and seniors like it for freshmen to "know their place." It's okay if you want to make some friends with the older kids, but don't do it to look cool, because them being more "mature" is not a reason. It's high school.
Don't try to social climb, you know what I mean, nobody likes that, NOBODY. When it comes to talking to friends your age, please don't mention "Oh my friend, who's a junior, blahblahblahblah", even if it's not intentional, you will seem like a trying-to-be social climber and a person who thinks they're "so cool because they know older kids." Remember, although it might not be intentional on your side, to other people it may seem like it.
In some schools, Freshman Friday exists. For my school it does. It's never the first friday, the seniors have to plan it out first, but normally it takes place either during or before November.
Relax okay? Do try to get on your teacher's good side, and although hanging out is okay, do your best at keeping up in school. Since I'm older, take it from me, doing your best in school will come out nicely in the end. Even if you are or aren't smart, teacher's don't grade solely on your test and report grades, they grade on attendance and effort too. You can wind up failing a few tests but earning an 80-85 on your report card. As long as you try, you'll do well. Make a few friends too, try your best to find someone that has the same lunch period as you, you don't want to sit alone for 40-50 minutes.
Good luck!

Its not that big of a deal. Im assuming you're going to be a freshman. Try to figure out where your classes and locker are before school starts and plan a route to get there. That way you won't be panicking about where your classes are and you won't get lost. Your going to be in classes with other freshmen and the first week is REALLY easy-you don't do practically anything. So introduce yourself to people and talk to people. I recommend bringing a lunch the first day as the lines are REALLY crowded. If your school has an open campus (meaning you can go out to lunch) find a few friends to go out to lunch with or if you don't know anyone you can go out by yourself for the first few days until you get to know people. As for classes, don't blow off freshman year, it's tempting I know but you WILL need the information and the grades later down the road. The classes aren't that hard as long as you pay attention, take notes and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! A lot of freshman don't do their homework, you get behind, lose a lot of easy grades that can really help you come crunch time and you get on your teacher's bad side. Trust me if you are between and A and a B if the teacher likes you you'll get the higher grade. Stay on your teacher's good side by being respectful, participating, doing your homework and at least trying to look alert in class. I recommend joining a club or a sport because you get to socialze and you get to know upperclassmen plus it looks REALLY good for college. Try not to worry so much, no one will really bother you and you'll do fine. It only takes a week or to for it to be routine. Good Luck and feel free to email me if you are still worried.

uh oh fresh meat! muahahah. high school is fun, ita lot easier than college, youll make alot of frinds there. and dont worry about the seniors putting you into a trash canand such, thats only in the movies although i have seen it happen a few times before...serioulsy i have
but dont worry just get good grades! and stay off o drugs and keep away from parties so you dont make a BIG mistake(a baby) :-x in your life
and dont worry about popularity, it really doesnt matter, as long as you have friends then your good. i thought it did but once i started college last year i saw old popular kids from high school and thier no bodies now, just another person at school....

If you can, go take a tour of the school before your first day. This way, you will know where all of your classes are. Also, if you have friends that are going to be attending the same school as you, plan to meet up before classes start, this way you can calm each others nerves.
