Oh that's hard. Thanks to Rome winning, most of the positive influence in the Mediterrenean that helped shape our world went to Europe. Thanks to the Romans, Europe had leading superpowers for centuries. If Carthage won things today may have been better for Africa. Then again, our entire culture and words we know would be twisted around and instead of latin meanings, we'd get ancient Phoenician meanings. Instead of learning latin in school, we might be learning ancient Phoenician. Then again, Rome could have made a turn around and won in another set of wars even if they lost the Punic wars.
I think I'll stick with Rome.

Well, in hind sight, because I know that the Romans won both the first and second Punic Wars, I suppose I would have to say Rome. But even so, I would still have to go with Rome, and my reasons are quite simple. I think that the Romans were more worldly and had a lot more to offer the advancement of civilization. Ironically, this is also the same region which we still have some of the most brutal violence and unrest. It is of course now known as Lebanon, Isreal, and Syria.

It relies upon on what you define as "worse." i visit grant you 4 motives for each. you're making the determination. Carthage: a million. Up by using the 1st and 2nd Punic Wars, Carthage had an Empire made up of provinces of peoples without rights and owing tribute. 2. Carthage's empire grow to be greater often than not mercantile (i.e., created and in keeping with commerce), and actively controlled commerce interior the western Mediterranean to the detriment of alternative states interior the section. 3. Carthage's aristocracy grow to be the 1st capability interior the Mediterranean to make heavy use of slavery. 4. certainly one of Carthage's greater repugnant non secular practices grow to be baby sacrifice. Rome: a million. whilst Rome beat Carthage and took factors of Carthaginian colonial territory, the Romans only continued to handle those territories as colonies. 2. in many situations, Rome's therapy of those under their imperial administration grow to be worse than the Carthaginians. They accompanied, too, the Carthaginian prepare of huge-scale slavery. 3. Rome opportunistically destroyed Carthage interior the third Punic conflict whilst there grow to be no genuine strategic go with. 4. The Punic Wars grew to become Rome into an actively imperialistic state, one whose objectives have been plenty greater desirable than Carthage and finally its territories plenty greater. The creation of an imperial state additionally delivered approximately the top of Rome's Republic and the beginning up of the emperors. Cheers.
