Is it true that in 1968 or 69 feminists burned their bras in a public squre (in Nerw York, I suppose)?. If it is true, why did they choose to bur their bras?

Yes, they did. It had to do with women's liberation. That was and still is a movement aimed at fostering equality with men in such areas as equal pay for equal work and equal rights in matters of finance and business. It was also a protest against blatant sexism - which is still around, unfortunately. There were bra-burning demonstrations not only in Times Square but in public venues across the country. It did have the effect of drawing much attention to women's issues. It did not, by itsself, resolve any of those issues, but it was understood from the outset that resolution would (and will) take much more.

Not just in New York, but in many major cities around the world. To them the bra symbolised a type of 'shackle' for females with the lack of freedom & equality being experienced by women at that time.

The bra was a sign of restriction on the woman that we had to be covered up etc.. The bra burning really did happen.. Femanists did it and femanists all around the world.. My grandmother burnt her bra and she said it was all in the plight of womans rights and freedoms etc..

Probably because bras were designed and made by MEN! I'd burn mine too after a long day.

yea like it was true they burn them because they are a pain the *** i take mines off randomly without people noticing

No it didn't. Women didn't really burn their bras, the newspapers ran with it because it sold papers.

They had burnt panties too, but they were not promised that they would get new ones.
