i used to have guinea pigs. I bought one for my kids and they named her pearl rose. A few months later she had babies. The kids both had friends over so they were able to watch them being born. Both of the friends took one each and we kept the 3rd and named her sliver. We really loved them. Sliver lived to be about 7. I don't know the normal age limit for pigs but we seriously missed her. She was such a sweet thing. We didn't give her salt but we fed her a lot of vegetables. Every time someone went into the kitchen she would start squealing for a carrot. Great pets, I definitely recommend them

They don't need a salt block. But they do need extra vitamin C. I used to buy the childrens vitamin C at the pharmacy over the counter and give my pigs a few drops every day with an eyedropper or syringe. It was orange flavored and they loved it. Making sure they get their C every day will prevent a lot of health problems down the road.

I have a long haired pig, Henry, he's a very demanding pig. Anytime he wants something he squeals, or when the fridge door opens. I let him out in the backyard in the summer and he runs around by himself. I use to have a pet duck that would walk around out back with him. I also have outfits I put on him for the holidays, my grandma thinks he's awesome! I also have 5 cats that enjoy his company when he's running around the house.

And as others have said, guinea pigs don't need a salt supplement, just make sure they have lots of fresh timothy hay and vitamin C (veggies & fruits) in addition to their regular pellets. Good luck! =)

We have two guinea pigs, they don't like the salt either. They love carrots, lettuce and tomatoes. Sparkles likes a lot of lettuce and CoCo loves carrots and timonty hay.

I had one a few years ago. He was all white, and really cute. He would squeak every time anyone would open the refridgerator because he knew the lettuce was in there!
