We have known for a long time that people learn best by 'Doing' followed by 'Seeing,' 'Hearing,' 'Speaking about,' and 'Writing about.'

New research has shown that there are 'Multiple Intelligences' such as what we called 'Talents.' Some people are good at learning certain types of things, which we have called 'interests.' They seem 'naturally interested in' something.

These people are best taught in ways that match their strong point regarding 'Multiple Intelligence.'

That way of learning might be termed a 'Personal Learning Style.'

Personal learning style? Do you acquire and retain information by hearing things, you are an auditory learner. Do you need to see things, draw charts, then you are a visual learner. Do you need to write notes or use manipulative's to complete math problems to remember then perhaps you are a tactile learner. Most people learn utilizing a combination of styles. The best way to assess your personal style is to recall your favorite teachers, did they write on the board, read from a book, have experiments and hands-on activities your success in their class was likely linked to their ability to teach you by tapping into your personal learning style.
