You can't just go goth because it's in season or something. Goth is something you can't just emulate and then when you get bored of it, become something else like emo or skater. It's all in the heart, the feeling... do you really connect with the gothic scene? Is this something you'll want to continue next year? And the year after? Think about that before suddenly deciding to go goth. However, if you're really for it and aren't just one of those "batbabies who shop at Hot Topic with mommy and daddy's money" then go for it! Just don't be a poseur and that's it!
However, there will always be other people who will stereotype you because you tend to alternate towards the gothic scene. Like for instance, I've been told I can't wear anything "goth" because I'm black and I should be gangster. However, I love everything gothic because I can easily find the beauty in it and I feel I truly belong there!

Being goth is just a phase, and yet goths act insulted if you suggest this. I like wearing black, and about half my clothing is either black or gray, yet I am insulted when people call me goth. It isn't a complement. Goths are just like everyone else, conformers and filled with self-hatred. Grow up.

It was very helpful to me. For me it sealed my suspicions. I believe I do.
By the way, that lady who says goths are conformists and self haters id wrong. She should do some research.

Umm..goths are cool. Just make sure you don't go emo. Alot of people get them confused.
