It depends....if the woman (or man) does a great job and doesn't complain all the time, I would say honestly $60k. It is difficult work. There are those who stay at home that are not consistent though....they are worthlesss

What, like a live-in Geisha girl? Somehow this question just rankles me. I don't mean you; I mean society as a whole. A working spouse should feel LUCKY to have someone at the homefront, holding down the fort and it's worth millions. You can't put a price tag on it, it should be done out of love and respect for the family and spouse. BUT because society encourages the degradation of women in certain circumstances, look up these prices on the Internet and rest assured that you'll NEVER get what you're truly owed... :(

well, where's the money coming from? we get paid because someone values your labor. when you are raising the kids, you are doing something our society doesn't value at all.

i'd be happy if we got social security credits for the child-rearing years.

that said, because of the 24/7/365 on-call nature of being an actual-factual mother, the broad areas of expertise needed to do it at all, and even broader to do it well, and because no one can please and satisfy a child like mommy, I'd say 10 million a year or so should do it.

houseld money belongs to both..you don't get paid to be a homemaker and/or mom and he doesn't get paid to cut the grass or fix the plumbing.
You both use the money according to needs and how much there is.
The question sounds like someone wanted a kid's allowance.
