The delicate clothing would potentially be stretched and lose its shape, and it will wear out faster. Putting "regular" clothes (such as towels or t-shirts) in on the delicate cycle just means that they won't get as clean. The different cycles are designed to best address the cleaning needs of different fabric types.
If this is something that you only do once, perhaps something got in by mistake, it probably won't have devastating consequences.

It depends on exactly what type of delicate clothing you are talking about. A lot of clothing labeled delicate is just fine to put in on the normal cycle.
And if you put normal clothing in on the delicate mode, then that would be just fine also, but if it is dirty then you would want to put it on the normal cycle because the agitator will run faster and get the clothing cleaner.

The clothes might get stretched out because the water agitation is faster and moves the clothing more.
But... it is also possible that nothing will happen at all. Especially if you do not wash these delicates with other bulkier clothes (like jeans).

Nothing really. Usually the delicate mode just spins the adjitator more slowly to reduce wear on the clothes.

If your washer has a gentle or delicate cycle, use it. A normal wash cycle will probably damage your clothing. Hand washing in the sink or tub will work if you don't have the other cycles.

If you put delicates in the normal cycle, they would come out looking like towels.
Conversely, If you put normal things into the delicate cycle, they will come out all soft and cuddly, with white lace and pearl buttons

Generally if you put delicate clothing on the wrong setting, you stretch it out of shape and tear lace, etc.

Not too much. It might wear it out faster, unless you put it in hot water & then it may shrink or bleed color. On delicate a regular load wouldn't get as clean.

Depending on what it is, it may fall apart. I usually hand wash that stuff with mild detergent because sometimes the detergent can wreck the elastic in clothing, say like a swim suit.
