What trade battles? Since Japan already controls a large part of the economy (it owns about 100% of Honolulu, and about 80% of Los Angeles-buildings...not ghettos or barrios), controls mass media...Universal, Sony, and manipulates the computer industry, restricts our export sales to Japan, owns 10 universities, provides funds for professorships in many others...we don't have a trade battle. Other things are outsourced because the US has outpriced itself in world-wide competition and failing work ethics. We spend a billion...yes, billion dollars a day in Japan...our bullying days are drawing to a close, so what trade battle can exist in a welfare state?

Hows this; Hey terrorists we know you hate us and want to kill us but please don't do that. It's not very nice. Oh yeah we have John Kerry here and he was in Vietnam by the way. He likes to talk to our enemies. So if we send him, Jane Fonda, and Harry Belafonte over to negotiate with you, You can let them know what it is that will make you smile. Oh yeah and if you still hate us then, consider them as a gift, because they like you more than they do us.
That will let them know we mean business and they'll get along with everyone.

I reject the premise of the question. The U.S. isn't bullying any country.
