Do you think the government cares nothing about the average american, old people and sick people? Why do they steal thousands upon thousands of dollars in social security during your work life and give you back pennies you could hardly live on. It seems they only care about rich people ! It seems the rich continue growing richer and the poor continue growing poorer! Correct me if I'm wrong! Please?

"The government" describes a large and ever-expanding bunch of politicians and civil "servants" who care only about continuing to do what they're doing. So, no, "the government" doesn't care. It exists only to perpetuate itself. Not what the founding fathers had in mind in 1781 at all, but greed won out over duty. Almost always does.

Where to start.

First Social Security was ostensibly started as widow's insurance to protect women who lived longer than their husbands.

Unfortunately as women entered the work force and live expectancy expanded Social Security has devolved into a pyramid scheme that will have nearly as many beneficiaries as payers into the system. This fact has been discussed ad naseum for nearly 20 years and only a fool will depend on Social Security for retirement.

Now the reason the rich get richer and the poor get poorer is simple. Both groups continue to engage in the activity that got them there... expecting new results from identical behaviour is the definition of insanity.

Finally it is NOT the role of our government to insure than the poor and sick are taken of. Private charity does a much better job and when governments in the former Soviet Union and Nazi Germany attempted to take care of the sick and poor equally... millions died.

Pretty much everyone gets this feeling at one point or another in their life time. However, it is not worthwile to think of government as a caring entity. Government does not care or hate anyone. Simply put, the more people want something the more likely it is to happen. Therefore it is more helpful to think of goverment as an interactive entity in which the best results are gotten by involving other people to get what you want, need or desire to be fixed. Individuals that are highly placed and individuals with a lot of resources have more influence than the average working person. In order to change things you have to persuade quite a few of all this people to change things.

A person in or positions has a few choices good choices...

1) Express your discontent of a sitation internally and accepting the unfair or offending state of affairs.

2) Express your discontent to individuals that can be movitated to persuade other to fix or get what you need and thereby give the control to them keeping in mind you also give up control

3) You can pick up the task and try to get or fix the thing that you want by persuanding other to back you up. Often people in that choose to take this road get discouraged because after working for some time they don't achieve the results they were looking for. Often this individuals don't know who to strategically or physically perforn the job. Taking up a cause requires great perseverance, dedication, resources and advice from other. It takes much less if you are a highly placed individual or have great resources. Is is this last comment that answers that question why the spending priorities in our country are what they are. It takes much less effort for rich or polically well palced individuals to achieve their task than the effor it takes us the average folk. Other also more dificult to persuade when their personal standard of living is tolerable than when it's not.

The bad choices are...

1) To resent the government and start taking it out on people. Be it a government representative or another average folk. This actions that will eventually not end well.

2) Take direct action on the people that you see as responsible. Remember it takes two to tango. These people were only the benefactors and initiators. They had to also persuade others to agree to colaborate with them. Hence I go back to my good choice number three answer

3) Do your self in either though chemical abuse or some other way.

Personally, I accept a lot of the injustice, unfairness or the disbelief at our state of world today. 900 people died in the Israeli - Lebanon war and the world went up in fit. But more people die in Irak monthly but not one gets up in arms. We spend billions of dollars in the Irak war with consumers adding their billions at the gas pump and yet we are cutting school budgets left and right with no one raises an eyebrow. These things seem to be ilogical but there it is. Right on your doorstep.

To answer your question, no the government doesn't care about the average american, the old or the sick. These people need to request and demand the resources they need. Even beggars must get up and beg for what they get. Handouts will not be sent to their house unrequested. The poor, the sick and the old get what they need when they ask and demand it collectively. I know it's not the answer you were looking for but that is the best answer I feel resembles what actually happens. I hope this helps.
