It could be an early term miscarriage (very common) or an ovarian cyst. However it could be an etopic pregnancy, so if the pain is there in the morning, have her go to the doctors ASAP to be sure. If not, it is just a painful cyst.

Good Luck!

I have been pregnant twice! First pregnancy no pain whatsoever and my son came out just fine.

But....

Second pregnancy i didn't even know i was pregnant, just kept getting these pain at one side of my stomach, sort of like sharp pains coming every now and again. I basically decided to go to the doctor and he told me if the pains get worse to go the hospital, so i did...

They did some tests and found out that my baby was growing in the fallopian tube and not in the womb where it is supposed to, they also told me that this is quite a common thing, and that the baby can not survive! so basically they either operate and take out the dead fetus or in my case they injected me with methotraxate (a chemo therapy type drug) that brakes down new growing cells. No hair loss don't worry and no risk of later not being able to bare children, a much better option!

My advise to you is if there is pain no matter how slight or bad, go to the hopital, ectopic pregancy are very dangerous if not attended to can cause severe internal bleeding and sometimes removal of the overies.

I wish you luck....

Take a pregnancy test first and foremost! If it is positive it could be just the body stretching, I had alot of pains especially in the pelvic region (brought me to my knees a couple of times) since the body starts to make room. However, she should see a doctor immediately either way. If she is not pregnant it could be a whole host of problems kidney stone, pancreas etc or something as simple as gas.

Good Luck :-)

unless she is doubled over.. she should be fine.. just cramps.. wait until the end of the week and take a pregnancy test this weekend. She can take tylenol for the pain and not harm the baby if she is pregnant. If it is serious, the tylenol wont help, and she should call the doctor.

No that hasn't happen to me before if she is pregnant then that would be a BIG warning flag that is for sure. I have heard of light cramping when pregnant but not sharp ones. If she does find out that she is then I would say to go to the ER asap. That is a warning sign. goodluck

yes, i had terrible terrible cramps when i found out i was pregnant. but then if her period is due this week, it could be PMS, and shes about to start her period. If she doesnt.. then have her take a test a couple days after her period is supposed to be due. the best time to take a test is a couple days after your missed period. good luck.

I don't know but I had something similar and a lot of times when it's on one side like that and it's shooting pains, doctors will say it's some sort of benign cyst on the ovary.

Sounds like gas to me. I cramped early in one of my pregnancies, but I miscarried the baby. It felt just like period cramps, though. Wait and see if she starts her period. Then go from there.

Could be pregnant, could be pms, or it could be an etopic pregnancy (in the tube) which requires immediate medical intervention to save her life.
