I recall a poll of about 1100 Muslims right after 9/11 conducted by Boston University. The overwelming view of Americans was that they were 1) violent, 2) greedy and 3) immoral. Yet only 1 in 11 had ever met an American and none had ever been here. When asked how they knew what Americans were like the overwelming answer was...we've seen your movies and watch your television programs!....HELLO!!...I'm sorry but the Hollywood projected image of me ISN'T correct...and I would believe the same of many of you. Yet, I / we are a target of hatred for negatively influencing other cultures...but...NOT me / us... Hollywood!...scarey!!! What say you?

screw the entertainment aspect of hollywood for a minute, it presents ideals and depicts environments that humans live and and dream about. This hollywood thing is a fascist faction bent on imposing "their" world/social views on people, though if you do not watch anything produced by"them", you are still affected for the people you interact with probably do participate in its addictive forum. Most Americans are greedy, immoral, i don't know about violent, not most anyways. Film and its insemination into the public consciousness has a well documented affect, it creates social dysfunction, because it depicts it to, ( from "their", a hollywood perspective) teach or show the consumers what the world is like. Visuals hold so much power, and it's like I'm watching Hitler the director pull his strings every time I see movie sometimes, it's sad. And that's a rant brought to you by the truth in us all, except if you too close minded to introduce yourself to learned behavior.

Of course Hollywood is responsible! During the Cold War, the Bad Guys were from the Soviet Union. Please reference movies like Red Dawn,Red Heat,The Hunt for Red October, etc.Now the 'enemies' are Muslims/Middle Eastern countries, and Hollywood is having a heyday.

My guess is that Hollywood is a big contributing factor. Hey, even if Joe and/or Jane Q. Citizen isn't like what is portrayed on TV the fact is that we eat it up and don't do anything to stop the garbage on screen.

So, if we are so tolerant of the violence, greed and immorality we represent by our inaction that we ARE in fact all of those things. If we weren't, we would have more of a problem with it, right?

thrilling question. i think of loads of the scientific advances would have come from Europe besides when you consider that many of the U. S. are descended from ecu colonists. possibly the innovations does not have handed off as immediately nevertheless when you consider that Europe became into economically crippled after the 1st international conflict. us of a of america's intervention in the wars and its advocacy for self determination very much helped velocity up the efforts to guard peace in Europe. notwithstanding different than that i do no longer think of the international would be in a lots worse state than it is on the 2nd. Human rights circulate would have went on regardless and massive Britain in specific became right into a brilliant hotspot for Asian and African immigration. in certainty the united kingdom is a miles extra multicultural society on the instant than the U. S..

There is no question about what you say. They are indeed influenced in a powerful way by hollywood. They are very fascinated by hollywood and make up their minds about us by what they see.
Many of these people cannot travel to America to see life for themselves because of government restrictions.
They have satellite tv with programming for free. And a steady died of Rambo like movies and shows with constant violence that help them to get ideas like what we are experiencing noww with terrorism. How to make bombs and plots to sabatoge . Just a constant barrage of movies and shows like this.
And that same satellite broadcasts the American evening news and other informative programs that tell all the details about our vulnerable security spots and where things are located in our country. The terrorists only have to watch satellite tv to get all they need to know. They dont have to come to America for survellance. I just cant get over this. How we can be so developed and yet so gullible not to se the obvious strategic information that we are sharing with the world for free!.

I agree Hollywood does project it's own image for example I am a Christian and alot of times l get this feeling like I'm being judged by how Hollywood says Christians are supposed to be not how we are.

hollywood does play a big factor is how america is shown to the world, but i noticed they also mentioned "television programs" in Australia most "television programs" from america are "reality tv" and Im yet to see one where the entire room watching doesnt shrug there sholders chuckle and say "only in america" then switch the TV over to anything from Oz or UK....hey UK's incredibly educational documentary show on "cheese" is more entertainment and more beleivable than most american reality tv programs......
sure we know there is a huge amount of you that are smart, healthy and have great lives......but unfortunately you have a population of 300 million and if only 60 million of them are a*seholes, thats still 3 x times the australian population in ar*eholes and equal to the entire UK population in a*seholes.......

When my late wife's daughter and family came to Texas to visit, from the UK, they all wanted to go see the ranch on the show Dallas. When they saw my rifle over the door they stood wide eyed. Yes, Hollywood affects foreign opinion.
