Look for one of the early pregnancy tests that says it works by the day you first miss your period. Take the test first thing in the morning, when your hormone levels should be the highest, if you are pregnant. If you get a negative result but your period does not come in a few days, you will want to repeat the test. You should not be having unprotected sex if you do not want to be pregnant. If you managed not to get pregnant this time, take double precautions in the future (like being on the pill AND using a condom).

You can take one but if you're pregnant the hormone levels might not be high enough yet. Take one to ease your mind (use your first morning pee and follow the directions) then try and relax (stress can make your period late) and take another in a week if you still haven't gotten your period.
Also, calendars aren't really accurate to tell you when you're ovulating, especially if your cycles are irregular. Do some research on Fertility Awareness Methods or Natural Family Planning for better ways to know when you're ovulating. And consider using condoms or a hormonal method of birth control in order to ease your mind in the future. Best of luck!

I hope you're old enough to be asking this question. Usually you should test at least 10 days after your expected first day of your monthly cycle. So if you're expecting your period on the 13th and it didn't arrive, then do the test on the 23rd day of the month. Still, you may consult with your doctor or try calling your pharmacist and check with them.
Anyway, have you and your boyfriend thought of using any form of contraception? If the test turns out negative, then using one would be your best option (other than complete abstinence). Otherwise similar situations may arise in the future. Goodluck!

I didn't think the tests would really show anything this soon. I could be wrong.
Sometimes, the mere act will delay our periods.. especially if we're not quite old enough. Nervousness will also add to the delay.
I'm sure you've heard this a thousand and two times over, but please.. save the sex thing for later. Are you old enough to have a child now, to care for it, and all the expenses. Are you ready to give up your life, your plans, in order to place your child first..
I wish you the very best.. in everything.

Go with your instincts. Regardless of the August 8th romp--you are late, I would test and see what happens. It could just be one of those long cycles...and maybe after you test---and it is negative, you can relax a bit, if still no period in a week--test again.

Read the pregnancy test box. Some say 3 days after missed period. Newer ones say one day, but are not as accurate.
