I am 5'7, and taller than a lot of women my age. I wear either a 7 or 9, depending on the cut of the jeans/pants. But here lately, I don't care what brand it is, or style, or whatever - it never fails that they are always to long.

Example: I bought some pants from Old Navy just last week and the size was 7 Short. But this morning when I went to wear them, they weren't short!!! And, it drove me nuts all day, dragging the cuff of my pants around. I mean, I don't mind some cuff around my feet but dragging half the leg of the pant ---- DRIVES ME INSANE.

I have cut the ends off for years, and worn the cuffs ragged with no seam/hem (??) (hope you know what I mean.) BUT, that is so old and I refuse to do that anymore - so, now what? I have seen altered pants that look silly, and nervous about that route. So what else is there to do?

I feel you. I am also 5'7" and wear a size 28 (or a 6) and everything is too long. I am told by my infinitely more fashionable baby sister that it is to accomodate high heels. Well, three kids into my life, heels and jeans are not words I use in the same sentence. Higher end shops like Indigo will hem the jeans they sell. You can also get most upscale cleaners to do this type of alteration. Its like the hems got longer as the waists got lower. I just want my old Levi's back - the ones that I could bend over in and not moon the world:)

Just FYI - sometimes I find things at Old Navy not to be sized completely consistently. You might try on two or three pairs of the same jeans in your size and buy the ones that fit the best.

are you serious?! i'm 5'7" also, and i have a hard time finding pants/jeans that are long enough! they're always too short. i prefer a 33 or 34 inseam and the standard length is like 31 or 32. well anyhow, if they're too short for you, you can always buy a shorter length...stores like gap, old navy, charlotte russe, american eagle, etc, have short lengths. otherwise you can just cuff the ones you have, or cut them and you'll have a cool frayed look :)

Look in the phone book for a tailor. Some will do it for as little as $5. Call around.
Learn to hem them yourself. It's not that hard, just takes practice. You don't need a sewing machine, but it is easier if you have one. Go to a fabric store and ask one of the employees to show you how to hem.
Good Luck

its a pain in the bum cos im short so everything i buy is too long. Find a tailor that will take them up for you, usually if you consistently have this problem tell them and make a deal so you can get it cheaper, and you bring business to them. You could try learning how to sew or alternatively check if the store that you buy your pants from does alterations because most stores have their on tailors that can do this for you.

maybe they put the wrong label on the pants? did you try to look at the size tag inside the jeans? my mom wears a size 6 short from old navy and the inseam is no more than 29"..even I could fit in them without any help from the high heels and i'm only 5'2. next time try it on before you buy them. :)

Try going to a tailor. Best buying a pair of jeans that fit and paying 20 dollars extra getting them altered by a tailor, than getting jeans that are too long.

I am 5'4" and occasionally have a problem with long pants, but I have found that if you wear high shoes the pants actually elongate your legs and look better than making them shorter. Even my gym shoes are quite nearly platform, as they boost me up an inch more than standard. Very comfortable, and they usually fix the problem.

It is always that long.

The shop that I get my jeans fix from offers alteration services so it's no problem for me. Just go find a good tailor/seamstress to the alteration for you.

& altered pants don't look silly.

Hem them up.
Honestly, I don't know how you find pants too long. I'm 5'4" and if I buy the "short" ones they only fit until I wash them and then they're too short. I ALWAYS buy reg. or tall size and then hem them to exactly where I want them.
