My copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 isn't loading a cutscene that I need to get through the game, who's to blame?

I know funny things happen to PS2 so I don't wheater my PS2 not being able to load a cut-scene during a boss fight (Volgin), I can't seem to determine wheater its my PS2 (which has taken it's fair share of bumps and had times where the sound had to be cranked to play DVDs) or the game (which at times wouldn't load some times but sometime after a cleaning and/or time, the game would work)., so i'm abit confused what to check.

don t play dvds
mess up laser, mine stopped reading games when played dvds

its the game. if the ps2 played everything else it must be the game. but to be sure take it to a friends house and play it on their ps2
