My baby started teething at 2 mos and cut his first teeth at 3 mos. Hyland's teething tablets worked wonders. They dissolve quickly. If you can find them, dissolve 3 tablets in a teaspoon of water and give it to him..i used a syringe. Don't go over 4 doses a day..once he cuts that tooth he should feel better. My baby is now getting the 4 top teeth at once so you can just imagine the hell i'm going through..lol..but the tablets are really helping a lot..good luck mama:)

You can try the liquid filled teethers-just put them in the fridge for a while-, or a cold, peeled carrot, or my son loves a washcloth wetted down with cold water.
Baby Tylenol works, but you can only use it once every 4 hours, and it'll loose effectivity after you use it for a while, so it's not really great for teething. Baby Orajel (or the store brand works too) is great, and it works practically immediately.
Don't use the baby cookies or teething biscuts, because they say right on the box that they're for babies 8 or 9 months and older.
And don't worry about him chewing too much. Chewing is something that babies do to cut teeth, and trying to stop them will only make it harder on both of you. Chewing now won't make their adult teeth come in too far back or with a gap. That's linked to children aged approx. 3 who are still sucking their thumb or pacifier.
Good luck! My son is teething now too.
**I just went back and read your additional details- I think I might've seen a teether shaped like a pacifier somewhere, that might be good since he can just use his mouth, and I still think you should try the washcloth. My son loves to suck the water off of it, and he'll just let it hang out of his mouth while he does other things, so you could just hold it there for him. Good luck!

A teething ring is a great idea and so is the baby oragel. As your baby gets older (she's too young for this now) try beef jerky. An old country Dr. told me to do it woth my son after he turned 8 or 9 months old.
It worked great! It breaks up in tiny little pieces that your baby can swallow and they love the taste.

Freeze a teething ring and then give it to him. Because cold numbs the gums and makes them feel better. Whisky works too if you apply just a tiny-tiny bit with a q-tip. Just let him have something cold to chew on.

buy those rubber teething toys?? They have em for kids. =)) it helps. But try to stop him from biting on stuff toO much. If he does, when he grows up, hell sorta have a gap between his top and bottom front teeth. It's the result of biting stuff when teething and the pressure on the growing teeth make em sorta.... pushed back?? i don't realy know how to explain. Sorry!

Try refrigerateing a teething ring. The cool liquid may help. I used baby oragel for my baby and that helped. Just a tiny drop on your finger and rub it on their gums. You can get that at meijer's or any rite aid.

Hyland's Teething Tablets - they work far better than Orajel. Don't worry about him choking on them.....they dissolve almost immediately when you put them in his mouth.
