I think we need to give Joe Lieberman a break. I live in North Carolina now, but lived in Connecticut for 35 years and I know Joe Lieberman pretty well. (Not personally, but I have watched him politically for a long time.) While I strongly disagree with him on Iraq, I agree with him on almost every other issue and 90% percent of the time he votes with the Democrats. I don’t think the Democrats are being fair for beating up on him the way they are.

Joe would also make a lousy Republican. He is pro-choice, pro-gay rights, supports public education, Head Start and other Democratic causes.

I am a Republican, but not a moral conservative. I would gladly see him in the White house over many many many other choices. Lieberman 08!

If Lieberman was a good democrat, then George Bush would not have kissed him. Lieberman deserves everything that is happening to him. And issues like abortion and gay rights are small peanuts when your nation is at war. The war in Iraq is a disaster and the American voters only get one chance every 2 years to do something about it.

I don't know about his honesty. But single issue voting is the lay of the land these days. Like it or not, it's a trend that doesn't seem to be subsiding and I don't like it for the record. Republicans wanted the last election to be a referendum on the Iraq war that strategy may prove to be a mistake that will come back to haunt them. If they couldn't use the war, they used gay marriage--another strategy that seems to have run out of steam. Joe may be a good Democrat but he waited to long to start his campaign and took voters support for granted that cost him in the end.

Friend it is democracy at work. If a majority of your constituents do not agree with your decisions as their representative you are voted out. That is exactly what happened here. Joe Lieberman is a good man, but the people of Connecticut decided that he was not the one that they wanted to represent them. So they voted for the other guy.

Maybe other people place more importance on the Iraq War than
you do. It's not just another issue, like abortion or public education. Personally I don't believe any politician who supports
it deserves a break,no matter what else he's done.

I am a Republican, I live in Ct and Joe will get no break from me. His stance on the War is the only thing he has done right in 18 years.

I am voting for Republican Alan Schlesinger.

Yeah, I agree, give Joe a break. For the record, I'm a Democrat and I like Joe, too, actually.

I love Joe Lieberman, and I think the Dems are being jerks turning their backs on such a great man.

Honestly, I would love Joe to be VP under John McCain. They would make the most amazing combo.

Apparently not. He wouldn't make a good Republican. I wouldn't make a good Republican either, but I have no other choice at this point.
