do wall streches everyday for about 30 minutes, by the time september comes around you'll be wayyyy more flexible
just incase wall streches are when you lay on your back with your legs against the wall and then open them in second postion and hold it [for about 30 minutes]

I used to have the same problem. Even my jetes were looking bad! Then I started adding a new stretch to my routine.
Make sure you are REALLY warmed up before you try it, and you may want to try it with a partner first. Pile a few books or a firm pillow on the ground. With one foot on the books/pillow, go into a split. Gravity will foorce you farther down. You will be a little sore after this, so make sure to ice it up well and drink plenty of water.
Gradually you can move on to a bigger stack of books or even to the edge of a small chair.

A few weeks ago I was about 3- 4inches away from my splits and I have been doing stretches so now I'm about 1 inch from the ground. The stretch that helped me was to put one leg(folded) in front and the other one behind as if on my knees, but that's me

Well, I wouldn't push down on your shoulders. I've been doing gymnastics for about 10 years and how my coaches always streched me was by them just pulling the foot in front out little by little. Also, when your in your split, breath in really deaply, then blow all the air out. It should make you go down a little further. I hope this helps, just make sure to take it a little at a time. Once you get a little further down, stretch it there for a little before you go any further.

well, i am trying to get down my splits too. My dance teacher told me there were a series of stretches to do that would get you closser, but i forgot them so i put my legs out as far as they will go and stretch down the middle. My teacher said that was another one that would work for center splits of umm verticle splits. Or you could get into your splits as far as you can go and hold it there for 40 seconds, then go lower. Do that or both for every day and you should get them down soon.

When I learned my 30 years ago, I got stuck too for a minute. I worked out with a friend. We would sit on the floor with our legs open and she would put her feet on my angles, grab my hands and lay down on her back. This would pull me forward and stretch my legs. We alternated this. We were also told to sit on the floor with our legs open and put our chest/ear on the floor in front of us. We did this every day for about two hours. Once you are able to do that, you will be able to do a split. It took me 30 days, her three weeks. So you CAN do it.

dont have anyone push you down! thats dangerous. someone broke their hamstring doing that and now she cant dance. its sad! if you want to get them down just get down as far as you can and hold it there for for 20 seconds. or longer. soon enough you'll have it.
