If you mean Creation as "In the Beginning " of the Universe, then it was neither God nor Evolution. Creation in that sense was just a singular event that happened -- one that we don't fully understand yet.
After that Creation, Evolution took over and got us where we are today.
As to the Genesis story, that's just another Creation myth.
As to God, well ... God did not create people; people created God.
As to why people created God, there are two or three fundamental human reasons. One is the fear of death; people want to believe in Life After Death. Never mind that it's nonsense; people just have a need to believe in that, and the idea of God helps foster that notion.
Second, people want to know where they came from ... they want to know the Purpose of Life ... they want a Creation Myth. The belief in God satisfies that human need.
But it's all a fairy tale. God is to grown-ups as Santa Claus is to children.
I don't expect to get a "Best Answer" on this one, but it's as good as I've got.

I believe in both... I believe God created everything through the process of evolution.
I do not believe that the Bible (and, thus, the creation story) is literally true, if that's what you mean.

I asked a few people for you and three said God created all life on this planet, two said Evolution, and two others said both. One person said she like chocolate. So without any good polls that I can think of right away I'll score it 5-4 in favor of God.

people believe in god for two reasons:
1.death
2.lack of knowledge
long time ago, people thought the lightning was the anger of GOD. it was because lightning was strange to them. so they believed that lightning was the sign of God's presence. because they didn't have another answer for that. but now we know that there is no god in lightning. it's just because of the electricity. so in these days, nobody admire god for lightning. so the belief of metaphysics retreats, as the human knowledge develops.
But I think the human knowledge will never find out whether there is a god or not. because when a question has been answered, some other questions would be created about the first one.
For example when human found out the lightning cause by electricity, there was another question:where has electricity, atoms,etc. come from?
Thereby, the human will never prove if there is a god or not.
but there is a sense in human, which need to admire somebody, which is able to do anything and has even create itself(human), for the two reason that I had already written.
So the human race need to admire god, even though it doesn't exist.

I believe in god. There is no doubt in my mind god exist but I don't know if he used evolution to get us here. I don't think the creation story in the book of Genesis is literally true. I don't believe in Noahs ark.

i've got confidence in evolution when you consider that purely is wise to me. certainly one of my instructor's had an thrilling view I hadn't heard before: He stated he believed in Gods introduction, yet no longer that he created Adam & Eve. He BELIEVED THAT GOD CREATED PRIMITIVE unmarried CELLED CREATURES, that existed in the commencing up of time, that developed into the way all and sundry is on the instant. I nevertheless have confidence in a miles better capability & the magnitude of having faith that the beneficial will happen.

I believe there is a God. I believe that He could allow some things evolve and adapt to their surroundings. I don't believe everything about Evolution but I can see some truth to some of it.

God. although i do have to admit that micro-evolution does occur, but not enough to cause the giant leaps that darwin expresses in his theory.
the micro-evolutions are on the same scale as the differences in skin colour between the different "races" of humans. for instance, the skin colour of a caucasion and non-caucasion produces one of three skin colours:
1) the skin colour is the same as the father;
2) the skin colour is the same as the mother;
3) the skin colour is NOT the same as the mother or father.
as a christain and amateur scientist i find many things that i cannot solve without much research. i refuse to say that "God did it" as an absolute answer, although i believe this to be true, because i want to be able to prove scientifically and archeologically to others, the proof of the persons and societies in the bible.

unsure how to answer this.........something had to start it all if you believe in evolution, thus there is a creator in a sense, i dont think its something thats a god however.......but hey we cant prove either, i definately dont believe in the christian teachings thats just wayyyyyy to out there for me, so with what knowledge we do have, i guess im more of a believer in evolution.........(bet that was an annoying way to answer but thats what i think anyway)

I believe in evolution. However, I also believe that evolution was set into motion by a divine power.
