Be sure that it has totally uninstalled from your directories. ( I am assuming you used Control Panel Add/Remove programs to uninstall it) If the file was "in use" when you uninstalled it may still be in your "program files" directory. If you find any "Limewire" folders delete them and reboot. If it was a recent install and you are running XP go back to an earlier date before the install and run System Restore. I have run across many many problems with Limewire. Kids think it is great until the computer crashes....I have had to repair the damage on many machines as a result of Limewire including one last night 3000 miles away.

What you can do is re-install limewire. Then when it starts up and everything, then go to: Tools > Options > Sharing.

Then under "Shared Folders" remove any folders under the "You can choose the folders for sharing files. Files in these folders are displayed in the library."

Then under "Shared Extensions" and under "You can choose which file extensions you would like to share", delete them all.

Then under "Download Sharing", and under "YOu can share files that you download to unshared folders." uncheck "Share Finished Downloads." Then click OK.

Do all of that, your files won't be shared, and you should have nothing to worry about. Just make sure to run VERY good anti-virus programs and Spyware programs as Limewire can have that stuff come along with it, but with some experience you should be able to learn how to stay clear of the files that are just viruses or advertisments.

Hope this helps!!!

If limewire has been uninstalled from your system the files that limewire was sharing aren't shared any longer.
Those who were gaining access to certain files via limewire no longer have access to the files on your computer.

Hi,
Here you can find a good place where to download Limewire: http://bit.ly/VMeo0z

Limewire is good software i still use it to this day. I really like Limewire, I'm actually an avid user of it. If I want to download a music file I use Limewire always. If you are looking for a good peer to peer software to download music, softwares/programs and videos you should get limewire too.
It's a safe and reliable pogram but like all peer to peer program you have to be careful of what you are donwloading from it. It does not matter what P2P program you use, you always have to be cautious about what you download.
Don't use torrents/downloads from other sites, they might be backdoored.
I have been using it for years

Click on my computer. Then get into your C drive. Once in there double click on folder called Documents and Settings. Now double click on a folder with the user name you log onto the computer or it might be called administrator. Now look for a folder called Shared. Delete that folder and that should be where all those files your son downloading are located and thus getting rid of the file sharing.

Move the files out of the shared folder they are in and then delete that folder. Without that folder Limewire can not share files.

If you uninstalled Limewire, nobody can upload your files.

Why do you think the files are still being shared?

Whats wrong with file sharing anyway?? It's a good way to find files that you may need or maybe download a song that you can't find in record stores. there should be an option in the programme, to not share certain files.

move the media files you don't want shared out of the shared music folder and they won't be available for others to download

and file sharing is legal as long as uncopyrighted works only are downloaded and/or uploaded. copyrighted material is what's illegal to share; that's pretty much any song from a cd.
