i've heard that some free downloads of songs is illegal, i just don't know which ones.

Limewire itself is legal at the moment (there are lawsuits going on right now to change that), but downloading copyrighted material from the program is illegal (any music, movie, game, or program that is sold for profit). Any song you would want to download is illegal, trust me.
If your going to download the songs anyway (with disregard to the law), there are better/safer ways to do it than limewire.... just something to keep in mind

Whats the diff? If you have a brain at all you wont download that crap! It is infested as all H! The bottom line is YES its ILLEGAL! How can they do this? Limewire only provides a connection between peoples computers and is not liable. The people uploading it and downloading it are the ones at risk here but in ANY event, peer to peer file sharing sites are so infested with chit that will screw up your sytem that it aint funny! Go ahead and use it but dont come askin dumass questions like..."why is my system all screwed up?"!

Almost everything you see for download with the filesharing programs is copyrighted, and illegal to download.
