As an admitted attorney (yes, I admit it -I'm an attorney) who has both doctors & lawyers in the family, I'll admit that I respect both a great deal sometimes. Yes, there are those in both professions who aren't worthy of respect -but there are many more who work tirelessly. I have to give a slight edge to the doctors, as they deal with life & death on a regular basis. My father was a doctor & I respect him more than anyone else I've ever known. People say a lot of bad things about attorneys, but most of them are very dedicated to making sure that justice prevails and that people get what they deserve (whether that be good or bad). I have a great deal of respect for most of the members of my profession & I'm proud to be an attorney.

jimmy ! you dont respect a doctor or a lawyer just because they are just that ! i am a doctor ! but i do feel so cramped with the poor ethics amongst my colleagues. its just money money money ! doctors today look at a patients problem and ponder how much they can make out of it ! no more, doing your job for alleviating the sufferings of a fellow human being. i was taught by mom who was a doctor that made tons of money , that being a doctor is about curing and money follows you. if it does'nt fine. but if you want to earn money , dont be a doctor ! be a businessman.
the legal system is far more worse ! making money out of the problems of others. its just 'billed hours', for the lawyers ! its a real shame , and shame , and shame again !

As professions they start out quite noble.
Both share the distinction of practicing their profession
(most others actually perform their disciplines).
Half of all doctors and lawyers graduate at the bottom of
their classes.
Doctors sometimes inadvertently kill their patients (more people die in hospital mix ups than by gunshot in the U.S.).
Doctors often make money off prolonging people suffering rather than offering a dignified death (quantity over quality of life).
Doctors are susceptible of being arrogant condescending pricks.
Lawyers are middle men that are often parasites.
It is seldom a happy situation when you see either one.
I respect individuals based on who they are as people, not by what they do to make money.

There are good and bad in each profession. I want to be a lawyer but work at a doctor's office (chiropractor), and with all the crap I've learned about MD's, I'll have to say lawyer's for sure.

Why in the world do people think doctors are "on the take?" Do you people have any idea how long it takes to be trained, ( 4 yrs of school after graduating from college, then at least 3 years of training after that) how expensive it is (In some cases 180,000 dollars in loans, before paying interest ) and how much FREE work doctors do for people who can't afford it? I don't know of any other profession in which workers routinely do free work out of moral obligation.

Ah...Doctors. But I do understand they are on the take as well. Just done through a complicated system of pharaceutical companies as well as kick backs from hospitals...referals, mri's xrays, etc....Lawyers, No way no how....they have a licence to steal.
Remember research and use common sence when dealing with doctors....always write out specific questions when visiting one...when ordered to get a test done...ask what the benifit is and weigh it out with the cost...medicine as well

Doctors because they save lives. Lawyers usually ruin them. Plus, a doctor has to look at insides and be exposed to diseases and viruses and I respect ANYONE who has the balls to do that.

Lawyers have helped me more in this life than any doctor has. And I have been sick quite a bit too.
