It's hard to determine that because you have to define who is black (i.e. do they only identify themselves as black or are they bi/multi-racial). Check out the census website. But off the top of my head...about 12% of the total population of 299,485,250 million is black...that number ends up being 35,938,230...half that number is 17,969,115 (because women usually outnumber men, that figure might be actually higher).
