I want to send mail to freinds and family so i can talk to them

Since you are with yahoo, all you need to do is Go to your email, and select tab, that says compose message.

Sign up for an email account at yahoo.com
Get your friends email address (will look like theirid@theirprovider.com)
Go Yahoo.com and click on the My Mail button
Click on the compse button
Put their email address into the "to" field
Put a one line subject in the "subject" field
Type in what you want to say in the body of the email
Click Send
Celebrate because you have sent your first email
(Then be prepared to get your first SPAM)

if you mean new to a computer, then all you need to do is set up an e mail account either through yahoo or hotmail. depending on where you are from it's usually yahoo.com or hotmail.com. find out what their e mail addresses are, and add them to your email address book. you can also download yahoo and msn messengers.
