***kbps is kilobites per second the higher the number the bigger the file will be, but also the hight the number the better the quality will be so if you want more music choose a lower number and if you want good quality choose a mid range number and for excellent quallity choose 320 kbps, just remember, you won't get as many songs on there as you would with a lower number. me i would take a mid range number and try that out. if the quality is ok for you there, use that, if you find you would like a little better quality go up in the numbers.***

KBPS is kilobytes per second. The higher it is, the better sound quality you'll have. But if you get a high KBPS, the file size gets bigger which will take up more space on your iPod. The best range to pick from is 128-192 because that's a decent sound quality, but the file won't take up too much space.

yes you have covert the files over. Use musicmatch. Its very user friendly, and it will hook up with your ipod and transfer files for you. kbps...kilobytes per second. The higher the number, the larger the mp3 file, and the quality is better. Most everyone uses 112

The video on the DVD isn't encoded in mp4 (ever). MP4 is the only video format playable on an iPod. in case you have been to tear audio only, you will additionally desire it in MP3 format. i'd think of that DVD Ripper suited 5 does not rip the audio or video in the appropraite formats and you like extra utility to transform the archives to a format the iPod is familiar with.

More kilobytes per second means better quality.

However, when you are converting from one format to another you are reducing the quality even further.

I don't know if you want to re-rip your entire catolog again as MP3's or not.
