Is there such thing as police phobia? Yeah, it's called being a black male.
OK, bad jokes aside, you may have an anxiety disorder and should consider seeing a psychiatrist who can prescribe a good anti-anxiety medication.
But yeah, I don't know what state you're in, but if you're in one of those that has a 3-strikes rule, yeah... having a felony could be something to give you pause. Get some pills, you'll feel a lot better.
In the meantime, lay off the caffeine and do some regular exercise.

It is not uncommon, OR irrational. In many different cultures, and societies, the people do all they can to avoid the politicians law enforcement. These people know that police mean trouble, and that people are often 'punished' for little or nothing. In america, most charges are 'resisting arrest' - odd, how can you resist arrest when there is no charge to be arrested for. America is no different from these other countries. Our police have super power in the eyes of the law. They can arrest one and ignore the other. They can accuse, taze, and shoot. Speed limits, stop lights, and the simple idea of truth do not apply to police and their methods. Unlike the mugger on the street, a corrupt police officer can abuse you and you cannot fight back in any circumstance. If a corrupt officer pulled his firearm on you and said hand over your wallet, you lose plain and simple....No wonder the more intelligent criminals seek employment in law enforcement. That said, most officers are good and would never commit a crime. Common fear, and completely rational at every level.

It is a common problem really, especially since there is such a police state mentality now. And you have every right to be paranoid. Hang in there.

Having a phobia of the police or being noticeably paranoid will get you more attention. In court, not so much, but interacting with an officer, it will tip him off something is up in a lot of cases. There are different situations and different ways to handle things. Here is an example of long proportions. I almost very nearly knocked a cop clean out for literally shoving me outside of a nightclub for no reason while I was handing money to the hot dog guy for my hot dog. I wheeled around right in his short, stubby fat face with my fist almost touching his nose when I saw the badge. Yeah. Not only that (yes, I was drunk, but I'm never THAT drunk where I don't notice a shiny badge), but I started calling him racist because he pushed the only white person at the stand, started cracking on him and his buddies for picking on people not doing ANYTHING because they're mad they make $23,000 a year and have to stand outside on a weekend to watch people having fun that have money and chicks around them having a good time. Needless to say, at that point, about 15 cops come from basically nowhere telling everyone to leave the area and one of them pushes me again. I told him if he so much as touches me I'm pressing charges and I turned my cell phone on video recording. They started telling me to walk or I'm getting arrested. I told them I paid for a hotdog so either they can give me my money, let me get my money, or my hotdog. He pulled the cuffs out and I said I do have this on video you know? And he said WALK. So, I walked past them towards the stand, as they watched me walking away from them, got my hotdog, and walked by them saying have a great night. Now this is extreme, but I was never nervous, I was never searched, I was never arrested, AND I GOT MY HOTDOG. But the key here was I was doing nothing wrong, and I GRABBED A CAMERA WHEN THEY WERE ABUSING THEIR AUTHORITY. So, if you get in a situation like this, hope you aren't drunk, with a bunch of people you get separated from, and most importantly, have a cell phone with video and sound. If you get pulled, just be calm, hand over paperwork, ask is there a problem officer, and be honest about the situation. I've been given a 44 in a 35 for doing 75 in a 35 early in the morning with NO traffic, and it took him 2 miles to catch up to me and he never got a solid clock when I was doing full speed around the curves because... I was honest. I said I am heading to Bojangles to get a biscuit before my store meeting and my subwoofers were so loud, my rear view went down, and I couldn't see behind me that's why I didn't hear him or pull over for about 2 miles. He started asking questions about stuff we sold. I got it thrown out for a minimal fee. Just like the other tickets 9 mph or under. So, in short, don't piss them off or act nervous FOR ANY REASON (or other reasons, another 10 stories, yikes), don't take abuse if you are in the right, be honest (unless self incriminating), and always have a video capturing device WITH audio. Good luck! P.S. There are good cops out there. They are people too. A lot of bad, and still, a lot of good. Luck of the draw my friend.

Plus they have guns, ya left that part out. I've had cops REALLY break my chops over nonesense, I've also had them cut me loose, when I got popped (Minor traffic violations, etc.). they are just people, who have good days and bad days, I never do anything bad (ya know, like "you're under arrest" bad), so I never think about it.

very common but usually copophobia is a disease most criminal or criminal minds have. Maybe therapy can help you get over this. Remember the police are there to protect you they are your friends. :-)
