You can get a new lawyer, but this one will have a lein on the proceeds of your settlement, so a new lawyer may not care to take the case.

Typically, It can take a very long time for SSA to make a decision if you live in a large metro area .# yrs is not really that long. But , if your case has been before a JUDGE for 3 years then I would ask the atty. to give me a written explanation as to why. Your question is very difficult to answer because of too little detail . I have an idea of what maybe going on but you should definitely talk to someone else. And yes, you will pay this atty if you win even if you get someome else.Contact that person on his e-mail but be careful.

anyone willing to wait for the money really doesnt need it, it takes about ten years to get a dissability case finally oked, my son in law had a stack of medical papers as tall as he is and he still had to go the lawyer route, and the lawyer did little but it is just set up this way in the gov to get you too despondent to continue the fight. i really dont know what to tell you other than fight on. sorry

Get a new lawyer. Dealing with Social Security is an extremely painful and slow process.

Fire him and either represent yourself or get another lawyer. Be prepared to pay the present lawyer for his work to date, unless you can prove he was negligent. Just disagreeing with him is not enough.

In Australia, we would take these kinds of issues to the Ombudsmen. Do you have a similar source of representation there?
