I'm from Boston, but I went to school in NY and have been to both Fenway and Yankee Stadium. Yankee fans take winning for granted and tend to look down at the Red Sox and Red Sox fans as that team that they have to get past and always will. If I can generalize, Yankee fans expect and believe that they are entitled to a Bucky F. Dent, Aaron F. Boone, as much as Jeter, A-Rod, or Giambi, getting a key hit to beat the Red Sox. The seventh game of the ALCS in 2003 was the Yankee fans' script for that series. Red Sox fans have had to endure three generations of frustration, of being the punch line for the Yankees' pre-ordained trip to the World Series, interrupted only by the Cosmic Humiliation that was 2004. Go to an Angels--Red Sox game in Anaheim, an Athletics--Red Sox game in Oakland, a D'Rays--Red Sox game in Tampa and you will find a horde of Red Sox fans vocally cheering for their Red Sox, and it is not a recent development either. Red Sox fans have been tempered in the fire of 86 years of frustration in a way that spoiled Yankee fans can never understand. Red Sox fans must have faith that the next Deliverance, when it comes, will be as perfect and delicious as was 2004.

Of course the Beantown Red Sox. Sox fans live and dream about Fenway Park, the Green Monster, and the chillin effects that seeing a live game at Fenway has on you. Sox fans are defiantly more passionate. Yankees fan just jump on the band wagon just to think they root for the best team. But actually the Sox fans make Boston the best team that is why Sox fans are more passionate.

Yankees fans are... nobody talked about the red sox until they won the World Series in 04. i challenge any "red sox fans" to come up with a picture of them in sox hats or shirts before the year 2000. not likely. Yankees fans all the way! red sox fans bandwagon fans

Yankee fans are more passionate because even though tough times, they will always be there. The majority of the Red Soxs fans are just leftovers from the WS 2 years ago. Before the Sox won that world series, they had about half as many fans as they do now.
