What would you do if you were offered the cure for every single disease known to mankind, and for every disease that will ever be, but the price for this cure would be for you to kill one innocent child. Could you kill that child?

I never got that e-mail, songbird. The child isn't Jesus, it's just some kid. How about you just answer the ******* question.

Who in their right mind would offer that option to anyone, my child? You can drive people to madness thinking about the pros and cons of that one...or the ramifications of its consequenses.

No. Living in an imperfect world allows us to dream and think up new ways of making this life worth living. Without dreamers there would be no scientists, no teachers, no philosophers, authors, peacemakers or trailblazing politicians. Imperfection causes us to explore and seek out new ways of seeing. If the human race could achieve perfection on its own--now that would be progress. To purchase it with the life of an innocent child would be cheating and would eventually lead to humankind's downfall.

the purpose of a cure is to save lives. taking one life to possibly save the many: that is the heart of your question then. and i know it's not my right to take any one person's life, no matter the promises or possibilities offered in exchange. what gives me the right to decide who shall die and who shall live? and, pardon my skepticism, but people die from a lot of other causes than from disease. are these cures guaranteed?
finally, would you like to be the one to inform the parents of the chosen child that s/he must die to save others? what if that chosen child was you?
no, i could not kill one to save another. sorry.

In a heartbeat. Survival of mankind as a whole is more important that a single life. It's called instinct to live. A basic emotion all animals have.

Have you given any thought to how many people would be alive if all disease were cured? Where would they all live. We need to think about reducing the population instead of increasing.

No. They also say that there's nothing wrong with stem-cell research. The devil does a good job of distorting the truth.

Absolutely. The price of that one life as opposed to millions that would be saved, that's all I need to know.

Maybe, it depends on who it is, because I could easily save 2,000 more innocent children.
