total freedom means media can say anything bout everything. if u want malaysia to end up like indonesia, try media freedom. u'll see students ralying everyday, protesting.. and they will ended up not graduating. (u know how much malaysian students love to gossip and being busybody instead of studying). believe me, it is better we off with limited freedom instead of total freedom. freedom is grand in its sum, but the price that we have to pay is big in the term of our integrity). hehe, this is just a thought, sory if ur into media freedom though.

Mass Media In Malaysia

Well last time I checked the FCC still existed so there isn't total freedom. Advantages obviously would be to get every possible viewpoint without censorship by one group or another. Disadvantages would be having to check facts of every news story constantly. If the nightly news could say whatever they felt like, what would keep them from reporting news that wasn't true? It would obviously be more interesting, but nobody would know what to believe anymore.
