Try scheduling yourself. After an hour give yourself a treat - then back to work. If you weren't focused - no snack for you!

Yeah, I'm the same way. I'm supposed to be writing a paper right now that's due tomorrow. What I used to do when I cared about school was have a break for about 30 minutes, do work as long as your attention span lasts, then take another break, but with each break tell yourself that you're relaxing so that after a certain amount of time you'll be able to work better. It actually did kind of work. Or you could look up techniques on google.. I actually found some once when doing that.

I'll get you an answer right after I get something else done....
Seriously though, it's a tough cycle to break. I am just one of those people that thrives in the last minute. I cannot change it no matter what I do. I can have a month to finish a project, and I'll do it in the last 24 hours. Maybe you are the same way. Make yourself a timetable and try to stick to it.

I will let you know next week. (Maybe) You could join the Procrastinator's Society of America. They have all kinds of helpful hints about procrastination and they plan on publishing those hints as soon as someone has the time to do it. Later on this year, they will have the 1994 officer's elections, no one has yet to submit their name, but many have promised. Their motto is, "Why put off till tomorrow what would be best the day after."
Seriously, the distractions seem to be related not to procrastinations, but to attention deficit disorder. perhaps you should look into that aspect.

When you think of a task where you think of it as a whole that will lead to completion, and you feel overwhelmed. If you say to yourself, "I've got to do my taxes today," or "I must complete this report," you're very likely to feel overwhelmed and put the task off. Take everything in parts. That way things don't seem so big but and don't having this feeling that its overwelming.
Don't give into the feeling that you have to complete the task prefect the first time.
Also, you make your own decisions. So if you have this state of mind that you have to do something that will make you overwelmed and not do the task. Just remember you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.

First of all spell words completely instead of lazying off. The rest will follow.
Then after that do not leave off work. Do it the first chance you have.
