Um...you don't ovulate for hours....ovulation mean that the egg (ovem) bursts out of the ovary. That take just one moment. Then bang, ovulation is over.
As the follicle matures, the area between the follicle and the ovarian surface begins to thin and weaken under the influence of the luteinizing hormone and local cytokines. At ovulation the stigma ruptures and the ovum is released along with follicular fluid.
So all of the swelling and stuff happen and THEN ovulation happens. Once the ovem bursts out then ovulation is over.

Now if the question is "how long am I fertile?" then you could start with the "48 hours" or "72 hours" answers. You are fertile a few days before you ovulate (sperm have been known to live up to 5 days before ovulation)

you generally ovulate once per cycle, approximately 14 days before your next menstrual cycle starts. When you ovulate, there is generally a window of a day or two in either direction to conceive.

24-48 hours, I think. You have to watch your body temperature for peak of ovulation.
