I agree. Judging someone by the colour of their skin should be archaic in our so-called enlightened PC world...but truly it's not. Racism is hatred or at least fear in what people don't understand about other people. We're all the same underneath our skins (okay, granted depending on size or sex). It's about time we saw each other as Human rather than white black or otherwise.

tired of hearing how bad black people have had it. There are a lot of opportunities out there for them. I know everything is not perfect, but whites do not get extra point on civil service tests, they donot get promotions based on thier being white, they donot have the NAACP, affirmitive action etc. Infact there have been many cases where a white was overlooked because some minority group is ready to say that a minority was overlooked due to being black, hispanic, female. It is also harder to fire a minority in this country because of the racism card always being played. A white will be fired or reprimanded without a second though because there is no Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton ready to cause trouble. My personal opinion is, if I don't like you it is because of something you did and not your race, religion or culture. My ancesters are not from this country, In fact my family history in this country started over a hundred years AFTER slavery ended. I was born and raised in the North, after the civil rights movement, get off my back about slavery, 'cause nobody in my family ever owned a slave. My family has busted it's back working for others.

You are RIGHT...and so what WILL YOU do about IT?
Raise that FIST and say 'WHITE POWER!'
???
Or what?
What is the ANSWER you want here?
What are you hoping to accomplish here with THIS?
If someone calls you WHITEY to your face...DEAL WITH IT!
Tell them straight away,
" I don't appreciate your racial comment, and I do not think you would accept me calling you a "N" so could you kindly remember that racial slurs come on both sides of the fence!"
Say it BOLDLY and hold your head up...stand TALL...
and do remember to be polite when it is all said and done...
say " GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR/or MA'AM !"
There you go...got it?
GOOD!

Calling anyone anything that is disrespectfull isn't ok. Just for the record, though, to compare "whitey" and the "N" word demonstrates an incredible lack of historic perpective.

Hahaha calling me "whitey" would not offend me... The one thing that I have found black people to say that really offends me is "Little white boy"... It is a very demeaning thing to say and I call people out on it when they say that to me... It implies that I am little and weak just because I am white... And the N word (I would write the real word but Y! Answers blocks it out aha) is offensive because it has been used for like 2 centuries to insult black people... The only people that I would use that word around is my friends

I know you mean well, but I think instead of asking about it. You should do something about it! Did Martin Luther King, Jr. ask about ending discrimination? No. Did Rosa Parks ask if it was okay to not give up her seat to a white man on a bus? No. You can stop these dumb @ss racial slurs from happening! So get off you @ss and do something about it!

I agree. But, I am white and I have several black friends who are truly friends and half the time they call me the N word but it doesnt bother me. Sort of funny in a way. we joke around with stuff like that. Most of the guys I am friends with were on the chain gang with me for 7 years so we became close.

I am a White person around Black people, Mexicans or who ever.
I'm a redneck, honkie, cracker around a niger or a wet-back.
I'm sure it is the same with all people. you get the type of a person as you treat them.
Can you believe that Yahoo puts stars when I use the word wet-back without using the dash in the middle but don't do nothing when I say niger or honkie or redneck? And I thought Yahoo was from asia. humm too funny...

Racism is racism...regardless of wether your in the majority or the manority. Some whites use racial slurs...but not all whites do...same with other groups...in any case it's only a select group of people on both side...focus on the positive.

no one should be so touchy about it is my opinion. everyone is racist is my opinion to .... and so what? There should be a defining line between passive racism and active racism ....just because i note that someone is a different race shouldnt be used as an excuse to lash out at that person .... the reality is that the person offended is more "racist" than the person that said it ..... there just needs to be more tolerance .... people are different people are different races get over it already .... its the people that think their race is superior or try to use the "race card" as a bargaining chip to get a free ride that are the real problem.
