I drove the 13 mile race course today...I think it was helpful to see that big uphill at the end.

I prefer to see a course, so the night before you can visualize yourself running the race. Visualization helps so much for the mental aspect of running. If you have visualized it already and spent a lot of time thinking about the course and the race, then when you get on the line, you just have to believe in yourself and let your legs carry you!

I do. I like to look at maps and drive the course if possible before a big run.

I like to break up the course into smaller pieces in my mind, and it really helps if I can think "ok, now only 2 miles to the hospital", and "next leg, just 3 miles through the park"

It's definitely helpful to see the course first so that you won't be suprised to see a big hill or a sharp turn. Seeing the track helps you plan out your running and helps you pace yourself.

I wouldn't know. I can barely run a 1/3 of a mile w/out feeling like I'm going to die.

I would rather see the course so you can plan your strategy and know where all the hills and turns are.
