Clancy was a heavy smoker and like Bill W. and his friend Bob, he eventually smoked himself to death. He also had high blood pressure as a result of his inactivity. Apparently, he was so devoted to Alcoholics Anonymous that he spent most of his adult life sitting on his butt chanting AA slogans while preaching and indoctrinating others into the AA cult. The final "straw" came when he was confronted by a gentleman questioning the logic and reason of AA principles and the possibility of using human self-will to stop drinking. He became so resistant to concepts that show that humans can change their behaviour by changing their thoughts, that he "flat lined" and died on the spot of a heart attack! Remember Clancy before joining AA!

Oh Jesus, take the demon booze from me! I am waiting. Please tell my sponsor I am trying sooo hard to fit into AA. My brain just does not work anymore! Jesus, please give me a new brain and allow me to use it.....for good!

The last public survey of AA which was in 1989 showed that AA helped 6% of the people that came to AA to quit drinking. How many alcoholics in the control group that tried to stop of thier own volition stopped drinking? 6%.

CLANCY SAVED MY LIFE: ON OCT.9TH 1977 HE CAME INTO ST. JOHNS HOSPITAL TO GIVE HIS TALK. THE LAST THING HE SAID BEFORE WALKING OUT WAS: , " WHEN YOU LEAVE HERE, GO DIRECTLY TO AA MEETING.. GOOD THING HE DID. CAZ I HAD NO PLANS OF GOING. I DID GO AND NEVER STOPPED. I WENT 7 DAYS A WEEK, 2 OR 3 ON SAT AND SUN. I DRANK GALLONS OF COFFEE. GUESS I NEEDED THAT CUP IN MY HAND , BUT IT WORKED. I WOULDN'T SHARE OR TAKE A CHIP. I WAS SHY..SOME LADIES WHILE IN THEIR GROUP GOT ME TO READ, BY TELLING ME , WE AREN'T LEAVING TILL YOU READ, THE 12 STEPS. THE WORDS BECAME A BLUR AND RAN TOGETHER, BUT I GOT THRU. OH, THIS WAS AFTER 14 YRS OF GOING TO AA.. BUT, I KEPT GONG TO MEETINGS. I ONCE HEARD .... IT'S MEETINGS , MEETINGS, MEETINGS==IF THE FOLLOWING WON'T KEEP YOU SOBER, YOU AREN'T READY ::STOP & LIVE OR CONTINUE AND DIE,YOU HAVE A CHOICE.. ( OR KILL SOMEONE IN A ACCIDENT THEN IT'S LONG TIME JAIL ..I HAVE SEEN ONES DIE FROM BOOZE. NOT A PRETTY SIGHT.. A LONG SLOW DEATH..WHEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO IS THE TIME YOU NEED TO GO... IT WILL WORK IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK. REMEMBER , STOP & LIVE CONTINUE & DIE, YOU HAVE A CHOICE

As long as your drinking doesn't cause you problems, then I guess you're ok.

What is the most effective program for alcoholics, if AA isn't it? I'm not saying it is, I would just like to know what the best method for not drinking is?

Love, Jack

Flatulus looked at Aphrodite the wrong way - actually, he leered while saying "I'd eat your beans even if they were burnt, baby" so Hephaestus, Aphrodite's husband and the god of fire, bided his time, let the beans do their bit, Flatulus did his, and thereby providing the fuel for Hephaestus' fire.

First of all AA is not a cult. Second, AA does not claim to be the only way to get sober. I happen to understand both concepts. If AA does not work for someone, then the "changing the thoughts" concept might work. Bottom line, if you are trying to stop drinking, then I would suggest you get some kind of help.
